Setting up your Teams physical (Polycom) phone for the first time
Most Teams phones, including the Polycom Teams phones Bowdoin uses, receive power via their Ethernet connection so there is no power cable. The Polycom Teams phone can also pass through the network connectivity to a computer just like the Cisco phone can.
Please follow these steps to set up your Teams Polycom phone:
- Open box and assemble phone.
- Please note, when setting up the phone make sure that the Ethernet cable going from the wall to the phone is plugged into the port showing three small computers/screens.
- If you use the phone to pass through network connectivity to your computer, make sure that the cable going from the phone to the computer is plugged into the port with the single computer icon, on the phone.
- You will be prompted to set an Admin Password for the phone. This can be a 4 digit pin, create it and note it somewhere in case you need to use it again.
- Accept the Polycom End User License Agreement.
- Select the language for the phone.
- Set the time on the phone.
- If prompted to choose between Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams, select Microsoft Teams.
- The SNTP setting should default to pool.ntp.org. Select Next.
- When asked if Microsoft Teams should be continued select Yes.
- The phone will reboot to startup Teams.
- When the phone finishes rebooting there will be a prompt to go to https://microsoft.com/devicelogin
- Go to that address on your computer.
- On the phone press the button for the code.
- Enter the code provided by the phone, into the appropriate window on the computer.
- Select your Bowdoin Microsoft Office 365 account.
- Allow the Microsoft Authorization Broker to continue.
- The phone will connect itself to your Bowdoin Office 365/Teams account.
