How to Setup Your Amazon Workspace

Information

These instructions will walk you through the first-time setup of Amazon Workspaces.

Requesting an Amazon Workspace
If you would like to use an Amazon Workspace and have not been registered for one by your professor, you can request one from our Service Catalog. Once the request is made, a workstation will be built and an email with an invitation sent to your Bowdoin email address.

  1. In your Bowdoin email, look for an email from "Amazon Workspaces" with a subject of "Your Amazon Workspace". The email will contain a link to download the Amazon Workspaces application, as well as a registration code.

  2. Click the link in the email to download the Amazon Workspace app.
  3. Choose which client you'd like to download based on the computer you're using. After downloading the client, double click to install and go through the prompts. When finished you'll have an application called Workspaces. Browse to it and double click to open it.

  4. Upon first opening the client, you will be asked for your registration code which can be found in the initial email.  You will then be asked to enter your username and password.  You should use your Bowdoin username (the portion before the @bowdoin.edu), and your Bowdoin password.

  5. After you enter your credentials, you will be logged into your Amazon workspace. Use this workspace as you would a Windows computer.
