How to add an iPad to Duo Two-Step Authentication

It may become useful to add an iPad to Duo to use it as an alternative 2-step authentication device.

Answer

The following steps can guide you in adding an iPad to Duo.

1. On your iPad, install the Duo Mobile app from the App Store, launch it and allow it send you notifications.
2. On a computer, go to a MyDuoDevices.bowdoin.edu
3. Sign in to the webpage and authenticate. You will use your phone, or token or bypass code as a current challenge device. If you don’t have access to your other device, you must call the Service Desk at 207-725-3030.
    
   Note: If you are already signed in to another Bowdoin service, you may not have to log in to Okta again.
4. When you see the Duo authentication prompt screen, click the Add New Device link.
5. Add your iPad, by choosing tablet, to your Duo account.
6. Follow the prompts for iOS
7. Click on "I have Duo Mobile Installed"
8. Follow the directions on how to scan the code OR receive an emailed activation link if you already have Bowdoin email setup on your iPad
9. Then follow the prompts to complete the process based on whichever method you chose.
10. You can now use your iPad to authenticate for Duo Two Step Authentication.
