The following steps are an overview of printing with PaperCut. This document assumes that PaperCut Client is installed. If PaperCut Client is not installed, see the "Related Articles" section for an article with more information.
1. Print your document
With PaperCut installed, you will open your document, go to File and Print however most clients will not need to have a variety of printers installed. In most cases, faculty, staff, and students will print to the "Find-Me-Print" printer.
2. Authenticate to PaperCut Client
Once you print your document, PaperCut Client will open and ask for your Bowdoin username and password.
After successfully entering that information, a confirmation dialog will open. You can now proceed to release your document.
3. Release your document(s)
You can release your document(s) in a number of ways.
Option 1: At most new Ricoh printers, you will be able go to the printer with your OneCard, tap your ID on the provided card reader, tap Print Release on the printer's touch screen, select the document(s) you want to print, and tap Print.
Option 2: You can release your document(s) while not being in front of the printer. Open a web browser and navigate to https://papercut.bowdoin.edu. Sign in with your Bowdoin username and password. Click on "Jobs Pending Release" on the left. Select the document you want to print and click the "Print" link. Select the physical printer you want to print to and click Print.
Remember: As of summer 2022, printers will begin to be renamed based on their location rather than formerly traditional printer names.
A note about Charging: Faculty and staff are NOT being charged individually for printing. Campus Services runs quarterly reports and may submit a departmental charge accordingly. Students will be debited at the amount shown if they print. They are provided $60 of printing each semester. If they exceed their allotment, any overage is debited from their OneCard account.
There are times when faculty, staff, and even student employees, may have to choose a project code if they'd like to charge their printing to a specific project or to a different department. Contact the Service Desk if this is something you may need to do.
If you are on a smartphone, you can navigate to a mobile-friendly site to release your documents at https://papercut.bowdoin.edu/mr. The process to release is similar to "Option 2" above.
