Issue/Question
- How do I print in Color?
- How do I print in Black/White?
Environment
All campus printers are connected through the College's print management system called PaperCut. This system is available for all Bowdoin faculty, staff, and students while enhancing security by limiting printing to only members of the Bowdoin community. This article references different color printing on a Bowdoin PaperCut Printer.
Note: Student color printing is available in the basement of H&L Library and Hatch Science Library.
Resolution
You will use macOS' native printing functions. Click File, located along the top of your device, then Print. Then a "Print" tab will appear with a preview of your document.
Instructions for Color:
- Select your Destination.
- For students to print color, select "Find-Me-Print-Color".
- Employees you can select "Find-Me-Print".
- Then 3 rows down from Destination is Color. Click on the Color drop-down to select "Color".
- If you are a Student
- Even if you select "Color" but do not choose "Find-Me-Print-Color", your print job will not show up at a black and white printer.
- If you do select "Find-Me-Print-Color" but do not tell your software to print color, your document will be in Black/White and you will be charged for a Color print job. You must select both for the document to be in color.
Instructions to print in Black/White:
- Select your Destination printer to be "Find-Me-Print".
- Then 3 rows down from Destination is Color. Click on the Color drop-down to select "Black/White". Usually, this is already the default setting.
Finally, you will now be requested to:
- Enter your Bowdoin username and password when printing a document
- (optional) "Charge" your print job to a department project (only for specific departments)
- Release your print job your selected printer destination
- Your documents will be held until you release them to be printed.
