Issue/Question
- I would like to use Nvivo for my coursework or research. How do I access Nvivo on macOS?
Environment
Nvivo is available for use on Faculty, Staff and Student computers.
Resolution
- To install Nvivo on your Bowdoin-provided computer, you can install it from Self Service
- Search for Nvivo 14 and click Install.
- Once installed in the Applications folder right click on Nvivo and Choose Open.
- When Prompted with macOS cannot verify the developer of “NVivo”. Are you sure you want to open it? Choose Open.

- When asked to give Nvivo permission to access data click Open Security & Privacy.
- Enter your computer password if prompted.

- Toggle the switch next to Nvivo to On.

- Enter your computer password if prompted.
- Agree to the License Agreement.
- Quit Nvivo.
- Open Self Service again, but this time click Install under Nvivo 14 Activation.
- Once that installs quit Self Service and open Nvivo.
