Setting up Okta Verify on an iPad

There are multiple ways to setup Okta Verify on an additional device. You can use Bluetooth to connect from one device to another, you can initiate request by using Okta online, you can create and scan a custom QR code, or you can set up Okta on an iPad by signing in to the Okta Verify app, and authorizing your account from a previously authorized device which may be the easiest, and is described below.

Sign in and authorize the additional device from the Okta Verify app on an iPad

  1. Open the App Store on your iPad.
  2. Search for "Okta Verify" and download the app. (For Bowdoin-issued iPads, Okta Verify should already be installed)
  3. Open the Okta Verify app.
  4. Tap Add Account

  5. Tap Organization

  6. Tap Skip

  7. Tap No, Sign In Instead

  8. In the "Organization's Sign-in URL field" enter login.bowdoin.edu and tap Next on the on-screen keyboard.

  9. Sign in to Okta with your Bowdoin username and password as you would normally do when prompted.

  10. On your phone, be sure to accept the multi-factor push notification, just like you would for any other sign-in attempt.
  11. Once you authorize the sign-in, you're all done.
  12. If you have TouchID setup on your iPad, you can enable it, otherwise, tap Not Now

Setting up Okta Verify on a Laptop

You can also setup Okta Verify on a laptop, giving you additional options when it comes to signing in to Bowdoin services.

  1. Install the Okta Verify app for your laptop's operating system.
    1. For macOS, open the Self Service app and search for and install Okta Verify
    2. For Windows, open the Company Portal app and search for and install Okta Verify
  2. On your computer, open a web browser and log into your Okta account at https://login.bowdoin.edu.
  3. Go to your account settings by clicking on your name in the upper-right corner and selecting Settings.
  4. Under the section named Security Methods, click Set up another next to "Okta Verify".
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to setup another device.
  6. Follow the instructions to complete the setup. Your Laptop will now be an additional device for Okta Verify.
