Overview of Process
Once the student has granted permission to access their information, the third-party user can log into Workday with the provided credentials to view and perform authorized tasks.
Third parties granted permission to view student academic information will have access to the Academics for Third Party dashboard. This Workday application allows third parties to view the student’s current classes, generate an unofficial transcript for the student, and view the student’s grades. Students control the information shared; if certain details are unavailable, it means the student has not granted permission to view them.
Access the Academics for Third Party Dashboard
- The Workday home page contains three primary elements:
- MENU - the menu button in the top-left corner is where you will find links to access your student's academic information.
- QUICK LINKS - the two rounded buttons mid-page are links that will take you to these help articles, one for Academics and one for Financials.
- ANNOUNCEMENTS - the box to the left is where Bowdoin can place important announcements for Third Parties. In this example, we have an arrow pointing towards the MENU with instructions to use the menu to access Financial or Academic information about your student(s).

- From your Workday homepage, open the Menu on the top left then select the Academics for Third Party link

- The Academics for Third Party dashboard opens.
- The Tasks section displays the following links to student academic information:
- Current Classes: View the student’s class schedule for the current semester.
- Generate Unofficial Transcript for Student: Generate an unofficial transcript for the student. The unofficial transcript mirrors the majority of the official transcript in format and content.
- Student Grades: View the student’s final grades, not individual assignment grades, which post following the grading deadline at the end of each semester.
- Note that you will need to enter a semester, or academic period, to view grades. You can enter this as “Fall 2024” or “Spring 2027” for example.
