Environment
Bowdoin College offers four wireless networks:
- BOWDOIN and eduroam – Primary networks for students, faculty, staff, and Emeriti. Guests from other institutions can also use eduroam.
- BOWDOIN-GUEST – For visitors without a Bowdoin account. Limited access. Requires name and email to join.
- BOWDOIN-PSK – For devices that don’t support WPA2 Enterprise (e.g., gaming consoles). Requires registration and a special password.

Resolution
Follow the steps below to connect your Android phone to the BOWDOIN or eduroam wireless network.
TIP: For eduroam, enter your full email (e.g., jdoe@bowdoin.edu). For BOWDOIN, use just your username (e.g., jdoe).
- Tap the Wi-Fi icon in the notification bar and select BOWDOIN or eduroam.
- If previously connected, tap and hold the network name and choose Forget this network.
- Set the following advanced options:
- EAP method: PEAP
- Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
- CA Certificate: Try the following options in order based on what your device supports:
- Trust on first use – tap Trust if prompted
- Use system certificate
- No certificate – if available
- If available, switch MAC address type to Use device MAC under Advanced settings.
- Enter your authentication details:
- Domain: bowdoin.edu
- Identity: Your Bowdoin username
- Password: Your Bowdoin password
- Anonymous Identity: Leave blank
- Tap Connect. Your device should now join the network.
