Campus Wi-Fi covers connecting to Bowdoin's wireless networks (BOWDOIN, eduroam, BOWDOIN-GUEST, BOWDOIN-PSK), reporting Wi-Fi problems, registering game consoles and smart devices, and arranging guest access.
Guest Wireless is Bowdoin's BOWDOIN-GUEST network for campus visitors. Guests self-connect through a portal page when they join the network; this service is where a guest can report a problem with guest Wi-Fi.
Bowdoin's VPN (GlobalProtect) lets faculty, staff, and students securely reach campus-only resources from off campus. Covers getting help, contractor/guest access, and setup information.
Wired Network covers physical network connections across campus — reporting broken ports, activating or installing jacks, requesting static IPs/DNS names/DHCP reservations, and registering wired devices.
Report a network outage affecting a whole room, floor, building, or area — when many people or an entire space have lost wired or wireless connectivity.
Faculty and staff can request an exception to Bowdoin's border firewall to allow specific network traffic to reach an on-campus or hosted service.
Request that IT locate and mark underground network and fiber utilities before any digging or excavation on campus. Submit at least 7 days ahead.
