Remove access to a network file or folder

There are hundreds of network locations in which are stored millions of files that are used by a variety of faculty, staff and students across campus. Access to most of this data is restricted to departments or individuals. When someone changes departments or, in the case of students, no longer works for a specific department, access to the network files or folders they had access to should be removed. Because this information is not kept by Information Technology and because we don't own who should have access to what, one needs to request that access be removed.

You can request the removal of permissions to a folder or folders that exist on Bowdoin's file storage locations.

Available to

The request is available to all faculty, staff and students. Since students don't always have supervisors, you should enter your Dean's name and email address in place of a supervisor if one is not available. The

Service Promise

Once the request for removal has been received, IT may check with the data owner for verification. After any verification, we will complete the request within one business day.
