Information
IMAP and POP are email protocols that were used widely in the past as a way to receive email messages. Each has its own unique features and both are still required by some enterprise software applications or vendors today. With the addition of Office 365 to Bowdoin, IMAP and POP are disabled for an individual's account by default due to greater security concerns for each protocol. If there is a valid business reason, Bowdoin faculty, staff and students can request to have one or both protocols enabled. Each request will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and if approved, you will be notified by email.
Please note that IMAP and POP do not support multi-factor authentication and may not be allowed for an individual's personal email account.
