Faculty and Staff Technology Requests for Fall 2020

UPDATE: Faculty should use this form to request one of the announced iPad Pro kits which include a 12.9" iPad Pro, an Apple Pencil 2 and an Apple Magic Keyboard. Select iPad Pro Kit for Faculty from the drop-down menu.

Faculty can also now use this form to request the use of specific apps for themselves and students. Not all specific app requests will be honored as there are a large number of overlaps in app function. Alternative apps may be recommended.

Information

As the College has committed to teaching all courses online for the fall of 2020 and are encouraging staff who can continue to work from home to do so, we understand that there may be a need for additional or different technologies to continue to be successful in the work you're doing.

This process has been designed to allow faculty and staff to make the requests for their personal needs. The requests will then be reviewed by the Dean of Academic Affairs Office (for faculty requests) and a variety of other offices for staff, in order to determine if the request will be approved or not. IT staff will not be making this determination on their own, if at all. 

Process

Faculty and staff can request borrowing some equipment, as needed, by clicking on Request Tech button. You will be asked to enter some basic information, make a selection of the technology or technologies you'd like to have access to and explain what you plan on doing with the technology. 

The requests will be collected and go to the appropriate office(s) for approval. If the request is approved, Information Technology staff will work to fulfill the request as quickly as they can. Some equipment may be shipped directly from a vendor in the event that the faculty or staff can't come to campus. Some equipment may be several weeks before they will arrive due to global demand.

Please Note: Not every request will be approved. The approving offices will make the determination based on information provided either through this request form, taking into account the availability of the technology being requested.

At the end of the semester, as the college decides what the spring of 2021 will look like, a determination will be made to either have the equipment be returned to IT for reallocation for the spring semester or allow the item to be kept by the individual for the remainder of their work with Bowdoin.

Equipment obtained through this process will not be considered as a replaceable unit during any annual CAP process in the future. Any request to have an item requested here replaced during CAP will be taken on as a separate process in the future.
