As we begin our classes online, follow these steps to prepare your personal computers for class. Don’t forget to do a test-run to make sure your equipment works as expected. Remember, even though you’re learning online, you’re not alone. If you need help, contact the Service Desk or visit https://support.bowdoin.edu

- Locate the peripherals you’ll need to be productive remotely
Think about how you will video conference in to your classes. Does your computer have a built-in microphone and speaker? Do you need a headset for your phone? Does your laptop have a working webcam?
- Gather everything else you’ll need to be productive
Make sure you have any important class files or equipment, like power adapters or headphones.
- Test your home Internet service
Ensure that your home Internet service is working correctly and that you can access the Internet as you need to.
- Choose a comfortable spot
Because you will be spending a large amount of time doing coursework online or at least on your computer, be sure to choose a comfortable location with good lighting.
Remember to also get up and move around often to stay energized and give your body a chance to be in new positions.
