Install Jabber on Windows

Note: Before you can log in to Cisco Jabber, you will need to request access and receive confirmation from IT that your account has been configured. You can request access here.

System requirements

  • Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 or later, 32 and 64 bit

Installation on Bowdoin-issued Computers

  1. Open Software Center. You can search for it from the Search bar or browse to it in the Start Menu.
  2. Search for "Jabber" or "Cisco Jabber"
  3. Click Install
  4. The Cisco Jabber application will download and install itself.

Installation on Personal Computers

  1. Download Cisco Jabber for Windows (need link)
  2. Double-click the downloaded  CiscoJabberSetup<version number>.msi file to start the installation.
  3. Read the notices and disclaimers and then click Accept and Install.

  4. You may have to wait for Cisco Jabber to be installed.

    Please wait while Cisco Jabber is installed. This may take several minutes.
     
  5. Click Yes to allow Jabber to install software on your computer.

    Do you want the following program to install software on this computer? Click Yes to install Jabber.
     
  6. When the Cisco Jabber installer has completed, click Finish.

    Click Finish

Sign in

  1. After you have opened the Jabber application, the WebLogin screen appears.
  2. Click on "Advanced Settings"
  3. Turn OFF the "Connect to Server Automatically" option
  4. Select the "Communications Manager 9+" connection option.
  5. Choose to connect to a Server in bottom section
  6. Enter in "p-cm-a.bowdoin.edu" for the server address and click Apply/Ok/Continue
  7. Enter your Bowdoin ID (email) and password and then click Login. Two-step authentication may also be required.

Sign out

  1. Click the Settings icon in the upper right-hand corner and then click Sign out.
