Environment
This article applies to Bowdoin faculty, staff, and students who want to share an iPad screen in a Microsoft Teams meeting running on a computer. Any app installed on your iPad can be displayed in the Teams meeting, and the session can be recorded to view later.
- You must be signed in to Teams with your Bowdoin account on both your computer and your iPad.
- If Microsoft Teams is not on your iPad, install it for free from Apple's App Store.
Resolution
Sharing your iPad screen is an effective way to present information to students — useful for Socratic discussions, presentations, and both synchronous and asynchronous learning.
Share your iPad screen
- Start a Teams meeting on your computer from the Teams application.
- Start a Teams meeting on your iPad from the Teams app, joining the same meeting.
- On your iPad, tap the ... (More) button in the meeting controls to open the sharing menu.
- Tap Share, then tap Share Screen.
- When the Screen Broadcast window appears, make sure Microsoft Teams is selected, then tap Start Broadcast. A short countdown appears and then your iPad screen is shared.
- Press the home button (or swipe up) on your iPad to return to your home screen. Your iPad screen now appears in the Teams meeting on your computer.
Stop sharing
- Tap the small red recording/broadcast indicator at the top of your iPad screen.
- Tap Stop on the dialog that appears.
