Description
Okta and Okta Verify use various pieces of information to help identify and verify who you are. Some of this information can be supplied by you in order to make services such as password reset easier. You should add a secondary email address and you may also have the option to add a mobile phone number.
Environment
Okta contains fields that can be completed by an individual to be used only in the event of password resets or other security functions.
Adding additional information in Okta
- Open a web browser from a computer or iPad, go to https://login.bowdoin.edu and sign in. You may be prompted to authenticate.
- Once you have signed in, in the upper-right corner, expand the drop down next to your name and select Settings from the list
- From the settings screen, select the green Edit Profile button and then sign in again, if asked. This step may not apply to everyone.
- Under the Personal Information panel on the right-side of the screen, click Edit
- The fields that you can edit will be come available.
- Secondary Email Address: You should enter a non-Bowdoin email address in this field.
- (Optional) Mobile Phone: Enter a mobile phone number, if you have one
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save
- You may be prompted to confirm that you own the email address you just entered.
- To do so, log in to the email account you entered and look for an email from Okta.
- Open the email and click the Confirm Email Change button
- You may be prompted to login to Okta and respond to the two step authentication.
- You will see a message confirming stating Email Change Confirmed.
