Environment
This article applies to Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff using Microsoft Teams. Teams supports adding apps such as OneNote and Planner to a team's channels. Some apps are restricted and require approval from a Teams administrator before they can be added.
Resolution
Add an approved app
- Open Microsoft Teams and sign in with your Bowdoin credentials.
- Go to the Team and Channel where you want to add the app.
- Select the + (plus icon) at the top of the channel to add a new tab.
- Browse or search for the app you want to add (for example, OneNote or Planner).
- Select the app, configure any required settings, and select Add or Save.
Request approval for a restricted app
- In Teams, select Apps in the left-hand navigation panel.
- Search for the app you would like to use.
- If you see Request approval instead of Add, select it.
- Fill out any required fields explaining why you need the app.
- Submit the request. The request is reviewed by a Teams administrator.
- You receive a notification once the request is approved or denied.
