Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin faculty and staff using a Dell WD-19 series docking station with a Bowdoin-issued Dell Latitude laptop. It is relevant when peripherals such as monitors, keyboards, mice, or other connected devices are not being recognized, or when the dock is otherwise not functioning as expected.

Resolution

  1. Unplug all peripheral devices from the dock. This includes monitors, keyboards, mice, and any other connected devices.
  2. Disconnect the dock from your laptop by unplugging the cable that connects the two.
  3. Remove the dock's power adapter by unplugging the power cable from the electrical outlet.
  4. Wait approximately 10 seconds to allow the dock to fully reset.
  5. Reconnect the power adapter to the dock by plugging it back into the electrical outlet.
  6. Connect the dock to your laptop using the USB-C cable.
  7. Plug all peripheral devices back into the dock, ensuring each connection is secure.
  8. Check whether the issue is resolved. Monitors should be detected and all peripherals should respond normally.
