Environment

This article is for anyone who uses Microsoft 365 or Okta and needs to quickly sign out of every device, such as when a phone, tablet, or computer is lost, stolen, or when there is a concern about unauthorized access to your account. The steps can be followed from any device that has internet access and a web browser, including a borrowed or public computer if your own device is missing.

Resolution

  1. Change Your Password Immediately
Go to the sign-in page for Okta and change your password. This is the most important step, as signing out everywhere relies on your credential change to prevent further access.
  2. Sign Out of All Devices on Microsoft 365
    1. Go to myaccount.microsoft.com and sign in with your account.
    2. In the left menu, select Security & privacy (or Security info).
    3. Find the option "Sign out everywhere" or "Sign out from all sessions." This is usually in the column under your picture or initials. Click this to remove your session from all devices.
    4. If "Sign out everywhere" is not found, go to Devices, review any unfamiliar devices, and choose "Sign out" or "Remove" for each.
  3. Sign Out of All Devices in Okta
    1. Log in to your Okta dashboard from a secure device.
    2. Click your name or avatar in the upper right, and select Settings.
    3. Scroll down to the section labeled End All Sessions.
    4. Look for an option like "Sign out". Click this to sign out every device except your current one.
    5. If you cannot find these options or are concerned about account security, contact the Service Desk and request a forced logout on all devices.
  4. Review Account Activity (Optional but Recommended)
Check the account activity or recent sign-ins for both Microsoft 365 and Okta to ensure there’s no suspicious activity. If you find anything unusual, report it to the Service Desk immediately.
