This article contains a series of questions that Information Technology (IT) staff have received regarding borrowing equipment from the IT Loaning Center.
How long can I borrow equipment for?
Borrowing equipment is designed for short-term use. Most technology can be borrowed for up to a week at a time. Special projects or needs can often be accommodated to allow for longer periods of time. Talk with a representative for more information.
If I borrow a laptop, can all of my data be transferred to it?
If you are borrowing a computer just for a special project, we recommend that you don't copy all of your data over, however you can access your documents from OneDrive, if needed. We can provide instructions or assist you with installing some software, if needed.
If you are a student and are borrowing a laptop because yours has been sent to Apple for repair, your data would be backed up to OneDrive. While we don't recommend downloading everything, OneDrive can be installed and the content synced so you have access to it for the week while your laptop is being repaired.
