Summary

VAC304 is a classroom that offers professors the flexibility of instructing students in a traditional setting, while at the same time allowing them to bring technology into their instruction. The classroom is designed to help professors and students give elaborate multimedia presentations. It is also designed to allow students to work in small to mid-size groups moving the furniture around freely. The laptops in this space provide a modern twist on a teaching computer lab.

Technology

Instructor/Podium Station:

  • Mac Mini providing Mac OS and a virtual Windows operating system.
  • 21.5" Crestron Touch Panel/Instructor Monitor.
  • Instructor table on casters:
    • Note: HDMI, USB, and Ethernet Laptop/iPad hook-up available at instructor's station.
  • A list of software for either operating system can be found here.

A/V Technologies:

  • Panasonic PT-FRZ50W laser data projector.
    • Ceiling Mounted, native resolution of 1920 x 1200 (1080P).
  • Crestron Interactive Touch Panel Controls.
  • Apple TV for wireless presenting.
  • Region Free Blu-ray/DVD/CD/MP3 Player.
    • Note: Located in AV equipment cabinet on the far end of the room.
  • Room Audio.
  • Digital Document Camera - desktop.
  • (2) PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) web cameras (One ceiling mounted to capture the instructor station, one wall mounted to capture the audience).
  • Vocal reinforcement Instructor:  Yes - CatchBox Lavaliere microphone/body pack to room audio with rechargeable dock.
  • Vocal reinforcement Audience:  Yes - CatchBox & Hanging ceiling microphones dispersed throughout the room.
    • NOTE:  The PTZ web cameras, lavaliere and hanging microphones are the primary Zoom/MS Teams devices! The CatchBox may also be used as a microphone for Zoom/Teams.

  • 5 wall-mounted whiteboards.
  • Pull-down window shades.
  • Flexible seating includes movable student tables and independent movable chairs.
