Summary
Information on how to reset your Bowdoin account (email, Canvas, Workday, etc.) password if you forget it.
Body
Information
From time to time, you may need to rest your Bowdoin password. The following steps will guide you through resetting your password using self-service password reset.
Steps
- Open a web browser and go to https://login.bowdoin.edu
- At the log in window, enter your email address and click Next
- Under the password field, click the link that says "Forgot password?"
- You will be provided at least two options to verify your identity and recover your password. These options will only work if you've added a phone number and/or secondary email address in your Okta account. The preference is to use email. Click Select next to the "Email" option.
- Email Example: You will see a screen showing part of your Bowdoin email address. If correct, click Send me an email. Note that while only one address is shown, the same message will be sent to your secondary email address on file as well.
- Look in your email, both your Bowdoin account (if you can still access it) and/or your secondary email account, for a message from Okta with a password reset link. Follow the instructions in the email to click the button or link. You may be asked for your email address again. Once done, you'll be brought to a screen showing you options to provide a new password twice to reset. Following the password requirements rules provided, create a new password. Once done click Change Password.
- Once complete, you will be able to use your new password for logging in to nearly everything on campus.
Note: Faculty or staff using macOS may have an issue with their login keychain after they reset their Bowdoin password. To fix this issue, see our knowledge base page linked on the right under "Related Articles".
