How to reset your Bowdoin password

  • Password is either known or unknown to the customer.

Reset your password if you know your current password

The following steps can be taken to reset your Bowdoin password.

  1. Go to login.bowdoin.edu from any web browser and log in with your current password.
  2. Look for your name near the top of the page and click the small disclosure triangle next to it.
  3. Click Settings from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click the Edit Settings  button
  5. Enter your current password once more. This is to verify your identity.
  6. In the right-hand column there is a box titled "Change Password". Enter your current password and the new password.
  7. Click Change Password
  8. Your password is now changed. It may take a few moments for the password to be synced across all Bowdoin systems but that will be the password you will need to use to log in to any Bowdoin system or service.

 

Reset your password if you do not know your current password

  1. Open a web browser and go to https://login.bowdoin.edu
  2. At the log in window, enter your email address and click Next
  3. Under the password field, click the link that says "Forgot password?"

  4. You will be provided at least two options to verify your identity and recover your password. These options will only work if you've added a phone number and/or secondary email address in your Okta account. The preference is to use email. Click Select next to the "Email" option.

  5. Email Example: You will see a screen showing part of your Bowdoin email address. If correct, click Send me an email. Note that while only one address is shown, the same message will be sent to your secondary email address on file as well.

  6. Look in your email, both your Bowdoin account (if you can still access it) and/or your secondary (personal) email account, for a message from Okta with a password reset link. Follow the instructions in the email to click the button or link. You may be asked for your email address again. Once done, you'll be brought to a screen showing you options to provide a new password twice to reset. Following the password requirements rules provided, create a new password. Once done click Change Password.

  7. Once complete, you will be able to use your new password for logging in to nearly everything on campus.

Reset your password if you do not receive a forgotten password email

If you do not receive a password reset link, either to your Bowdoin email account (assuming you still have access to it) or at a personal email account, you will need assistance from the Service Desk. 

Due to security requirements, all password resets must take place during regular business hours, either in person by visiting the Tech Hub in Smith Union, or by video call. Contact the Service Desk by phone at (207) 725-3030 if you need reset assistance or to set up a video call for a password reset.
