This article applies to current Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff who want to access their Bowdoin email account using Apple's built-in Mail app on an iPhone or iPad.

  • Devices: iPhone or iPad running a current version of iOS or iPadOS
  • Account required: An active Bowdoin Microsoft 365 email account

Resolution

Add your Bowdoin email to the Mail app

Important: Multi-factor authentication (MFA) via Okta Verify is required to access your Bowdoin email account. Make sure Okta Verify is installed and set up on your device before starting.
  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap Apps, then tap Mail.
  3. Tap Mail Accounts.
  4. Tap Add Account.
  5. Choose Microsoft Exchange.
  6. Enter your full Bowdoin email address and an account description (for example, "Bowdoin"), then tap Next and then Sign In.
  7. Tap Continue on the prompt that asks if Settings can use microsoftonline.com to sign in.
  8. Enter your Bowdoin email address when prompted, then complete the Okta multi-factor authentication prompt.
  9. Tap Continue on the prompt that asks if you trust bowdoin.edu.
  10. Tap Save.
  11. Open the Mail app to verify your Bowdoin email is loading.

Remove your Bowdoin email from the Mail app

When you graduate, leave the college, or no longer need your Bowdoin email in Mail, you can remove the account with these steps.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps, then tap Mail.
  3. Tap Mail Accounts.
  4. Tap Exchange (or the name you gave the account when setting it up).
  5. Tap Delete Account and confirm.
