Environment
This article applies to Bowdoin College faculty, staff, and students using LibreChat in a web browser on desktop or laptop. Sharing and exporting are available from the chat interface and the settings menu. Shared links are accessible only to users who sign in with Bowdoin SSO — your name and any messages added after creating the link remain private.
Resolution
Share a conversation
Sharing a conversation creates a link that other Bowdoin LibreChat users can open. Useful for:
- Collaboration — sharing an AI-assisted draft or analysis for feedback
- Demonstrating a prompt or workflow — letting others replicate or adapt an approach that worked well
- Reporting issues — sharing the exact conversation when reporting unexpected AI behaviour to IT support
To share a conversation, use either method:
Method 1 — From the conversation window
- Open the conversation you want to share.
- Click the Share/Export icon in the upper-right corner of the chat window.

- Copy the generated link and send it to the person you want to share it with. They must be signed in with Bowdoin SSO to open it.
Method 2 — From the chat history panel
- In the left-hand chat history panel, hover over the conversation title.
- Click the … (More) menu and select Share.

- Copy the generated link.
View and delete shared links
- Click your name in the bottom-left corner of LibreChat.

- Select Settings.
- Click Manage next to Shared Links.

- Click the Delete button next to any shared link you want to remove. Deleting a link immediately revokes access for anyone who had it.

Export a conversation to a file
- Open the conversation you want to export.
- Click the export icon in the upper-right corner of the conversation window.

- Choose a file format from the options shown and save the file to your computer:
- .txt — plain text
- .md — Markdown format
- .json — structured data
- .csv — spreadsheet-compatible
- .png — screenshot image
