Environment
This article applies to Bowdoin College students, faculty, and staff using SPSS on macOS. The steps below cover two workflows: saving your raw data file, and exporting output (results, graphs, and charts) to PDF.
Note: SPSS for macOS does not support exporting raw data directly to PDF. To share raw data as a PDF, first export it to Excel, then print or export from Excel to PDF.
Resolution
Step 1 — Save your data file
Before exporting output to PDF, you must first save your data so that it is available in the SPSS Viewer.
- In the main SPSS data window, click File in the menu bar and choose Save As…

- Enter a file name and choose a save location, then click Save.

Step 2 — Export output to PDF
After saving, a Viewer window will open. This window contains all output you have generated, including results tables, graphs, and charts.
- In the Viewer window, select the item or items you want to export to PDF.
- Click File in the menu bar and choose Export…

- In the Export Output dialog, change the Document Type drop-down to Portable Document Format (.PDF).
- Enter a file name and choose a save location.
- Click OK to export.
