Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin faculty, staff, and students using LibreChat in a modern web browser on macOS or Windows. It covers creating, using, organizing, and removing items in the Prompt Library.

Resolution

Add a prompt to the library

  1. Open LibreChat and select Prompts in the right-side panel to open the Prompt Library.
  2. Select + Create Prompt.
  3. Enter a prompt name.
  4. Enter the main text of the prompt.
    • Optional placeholders: Use double braces to prompt for details when you run the prompt later (for example, {{example variable}}, {{current_date}}, {{current_user}}).
    • Optional description: Add a short summary to help identify the prompt.
    • Optional backslash command: Create a short command name to trigger the prompt from chat (for example, /summary). Typing / in the chat shows saved commands.
    • Optional filters: In Advanced (upper-right), choose a filter type to organize prompts (for example, Ideas, Travel, Learning, Writing, Shopping, Code, Misc., Roleplay, Finance).
  5. Select Create Prompt to save.

Use a saved prompt

  1. Open Prompts in the right-side panel.
  2. Select the prompt name.
    1. If there are no placeholders, the response starts automatically.
    2. If placeholders exist, complete the fields shown and select Submit to continue.

Use backslash commands

  1. In the chat message box, type / to display your saved commands.
  2. Select a command to load its prompt automatically.
