Environment
This article applies to anyone whose OneCard has been replaced and who uses OneCard tap-to-release printing at a Bowdoin multi-function printer (MFD):
- Who: All faculty, staff, and students who tap their OneCard to release print jobs.
- What: PaperCut on Bowdoin multi-function printers (MFDs).
- When to use it: The first time you tap a replacement OneCard at any MFD on campus.
Note: PaperCut remembers one OneCard per person. Each time your OneCard is replaced, the new card must be associated with your PaperCut account before tap-to-release will work. You only need to do this once per replacement card.
Resolution
The first time you tap a replacement OneCard at a multi-function printer, PaperCut will prompt you to associate the new card with your account. The process takes about 30 seconds at the printer.
Associate your new OneCard at the printer
- Go to any Bowdoin multi-function printer and tap your new OneCard on the card reader.
- The printer screen will display a message that "Your card is not known to the system." Tap Next.

- Tap the Username field and use the on-screen keyboard to type your Bowdoin username (the part of your email before
@bowdoin.edu).
- Tap the Password field and type your Bowdoin password.

- Double-check what you typed — the on-screen keyboard can be easy to mistype on. Then tap Associate.
- If the information was entered correctly, you will see a confirmation message that your new card has been associated with your account. Tap OK to continue to the print release screen.
If association fails: Double-check that you entered your Bowdoin username (not your full email) and that your password is current. If you have recently changed your Bowdoin password, make sure you are using the new one. If it still fails, see PaperCut Print Troubleshooting in the Related Articles section.
