This knowledge base article applies to current Bowdoin students and the Apple technology provided to them by the college as part of the Digital Excellence (DExC) program.
Resolution
What is covered under the AppleCare+ warranty?
Almost everything. AppleCare+ provides complete coverage for devices that have an AppleCare+ warranty. This includes:
- Repair or replacement of laptops or iPads that have had water spilled on them
- If a laptop or iPad has a cracked screen
- If the laptop or iPad has been dropped and is no longer working
- If something has gone wrong with the device
- and almost everything else.
How to request a repair or replacement
Here are the steps students can follow to obtain a repair or replacement device
- Identify the Problem: Take a moment to identify what's wrong with your device. AppleCare+ covers accidental damage and hardware issues. Knowing the problem will help you communicate clearly with Apple Support or at the Apple Store.
- Contact the Service Desk, Apple Support or Visit an Apple Store:
- You can complete the correct form in this Support Portal to initiate assistance or come to the Tech Hub in Smith Union during regular hours.
- You can reach out to Apple Support through their website or the Apple Support app. You can have a chat, call, or schedule a service.
- If you call, be sure to call the AppleCare support for Education at 1-800-800-2775 and press option 3
- If you prefer in-person help, locate the nearest Apple Store or authorized service provider to get your device checked by experts.
- Repair or Replacement: After the issue is diagnosed, Apple will explain the next steps. This may involve repairing the device or, in some cases, providing a replacement. With AppleCare+. There should be no service fee for these repairs unless you have an iPad Pro.
