Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin faculty, staff, and students signed in to LibreChat with Bowdoin Single Sign-On. It covers managing your own chat history: viewing, sharing, archiving, renaming, duplicating, deleting, and exporting conversations. All actions apply only to your own account.

Resolution

View or manage a specific conversation

  1. In the left panel of the LibreChat window, locate the conversation by name.
  2. Click the conversation title to open it.
  3. To access more options, hover over the conversation title and click the (More) menu to the right. Available options include:
    • Share — create a shareable link accessible only to Bowdoin SSO users
    • Rename — change the conversation title
    • Duplicate — make a copy of the conversation in your history
    • Archive — remove the chat from the left panel and move it to your archived chats
    • Delete — permanently remove the chat from your history
Warning: Deleting a conversation is permanent and cannot be undone. Archive conversations you might want to retrieve later instead of deleting them.

Delete your entire chat history

  1. Select your name in the bottom-left corner of the LibreChat window.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Data Controls.
  4. Select Clear All Chats.
Warning: Clearing all chats permanently deletes your entire conversation history and cannot be undone.

Retrieve archived conversations

  1. Select your name in the bottom-left corner of the LibreChat window.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. On the General tab, select Manage to the right of Archived Chats.
  4. Find the archived conversation and select the Unarchive icon under Actions to restore it to your left panel.

Download a copy of a conversation

  1. In the left panel, click the title of the conversation you want to export.
  2. In the conversation window, click the export icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Choose a file format: .png, .txt, .md, .json, or .csv.
  4. Save the file to your computer.
Note: There is no option to download your entire chat history at once. Export conversations individually as needed. If you are leaving Bowdoin, export anything you want to keep before your account is deactivated — see Save LibreChat data before leaving Bowdoin in the Related Articles section.
