Manage LibreChat chat history

Environment

  • Bowdoin LibreChat users signed in with Bowdoin Single Sign-On (SSO).
  • Web interface on supported browsers for macOS or Windows.
  • Applies to managing your own chat history: viewing, sharing, archiving, deleting, and exporting.

Resolution

View or delete the history for a specific chat

  1. In the left panel of the LibreChat window, locate the conversation.
  2. To view the conversation’s history, select its chat title.
  3. For more options, select the (More) menu to the right of the conversation, then choose:
    • Share: Create a shareable URL that is accessible only to Bowdoin SSO users.
    • Rename: Change the conversation title.
    • Duplicate: Make a copy of the conversation in your history.
    • Archive: Remove the chat from the left panel and move it to your account’s archive.
    • Delete: Permanently remove the chat from your history.
  4. To delete a conversation directly, select the trash can icon. Note: This action cannot be undone.

Delete your account’s full chat history

  1. Select your name in the bottom-left corner of the LibreChat window.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Data Controls.
  4. Select Clear All Chats. Note: This permanently deletes all chats in your account and cannot be undone.

Retrieve your archived conversations

  1. Select your name in the bottom-left corner.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Manage to the right of Archived Chats  on the General tab.
  4. Find the archived chat and select the Unarchive icon under Actions.

Download a copy of a conversation

  1. In the left panel, select the chat title you want to export.
  2. In the conversation window, select the export icon in the upper-right to download a copy. Available formats include .png, .txt, .md, .json, and .csv.
  3. There is no option to download your entire chat history at once; export conversations individually as needed.
