Environment
This article applies to Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff who are leaving the College — including graduating students, retiring faculty, and departing staff. Complete these steps before your Bowdoin account is deactivated. LibreChat is accessible through any modern web browser on macOS or Windows.
Important: After your Bowdoin account is deactivated, you will no longer be able to access your LibreChat conversations, files, or archives. Save anything you need before your affiliation ends.
Resolution
Download a copy of a conversation
Note: There is currently no option to download your entire chat history at once. Export conversations individually as needed.
- Sign in to LibreChat at librechat.bowdoin.edu.
- In the left panel, click the title of the conversation you want to export.
- In the conversation window, click the export icon in the upper-right corner.
- Choose a file format and save the file to a secure location on your computer or personal cloud storage:
- .txt — plain text, readable in any text editor
- .md — Markdown format, preserves formatting
- .json — structured data, useful for re-importing or processing
- .csv — spreadsheet-compatible format
- .png — screenshot image of the conversation
- Repeat for each conversation you want to keep.
Retrieve archived conversations
If you have archived conversations, retrieve them before exporting:
- Select your name or profile icon in the lower-left corner of the LibreChat window.
- Select Settings.
- On the Settings page, select Manage to the right of Archived Chats.
- Find the conversation you need and select the Unarchive icon under Actions.
- Return to your chat history and export the conversation following the steps above.
