Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff using Windows 11. The Windows clock can be set to adjust automatically based on location and time of year (Daylight Saving Time start and end). Most computers issued by IT are configured to make this change automatically, but the setting can occasionally fail to update the clock.

Resolution

Verify and, if necessary, reset the clock setting so Windows checks in with the internet time servers.

  1. Open Settings from the Start Menu, select Time & Language, then select Date & Time.
  2. Confirm that Set time automatically is turned on. Click the switch to turn it off.
  3. Click the switch again to turn Set time automatically back on. Windows checks in with the time servers and adjusts the clock.
Tip: You can also open these settings by right-clicking the clock in the Task Bar and choosing Adjust date and time.
