  • How do I add a new page in my CMS site or folder?
  • How do I create a landing page for a new site section?
  • What should I name a new page, and what are the naming rules?
  • What is the difference between Page Name, Display Name, and Title?
  • Where does my new page appear after I create it?

Environment

This applies to Bowdoin website editors working in the Cascade content management system (CMS) who have permission to create content in the site section or folder where the new page will go.

Resolution

  1. In the left-hand sidebar, select any page or asset inside the folder where you want your new page to go.
  2. Click on the + Add Content button in the top-left corner of the Cascade toolbar.
  3. Select Page.
  4. In the Page Name field, enter the URL of your new page.
    • It must be all lowercase, using hyphens as separators (no underscores).
    • It should be brief and generally match your page title. (Note: if you are creating a new site section inside a folder and are working on a new parent or landing page, the page name must be “index.”)
  5. Add in your Display Name and Title. These should be in normal title case and are generally the same.
  6. Hit Preview Draft > Submit > Submit.

Your new page will appear in the content sidebar within your website, in the folder you selected in step 1. You can now go back in to edit your new page and add additional content.
