Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin faculty and students using Azure course folders for a specific course. Azure course folders have the same structure as Microwave course folders but are hosted in Azure, making them significantly faster when accessed from within an Azure Virtual Desktop. They are also accessible from any computer on the campus network or connected via VPN.

Resolution

Requesting an Azure Course Folder

Click the Request Service button on this KB page to submit a request. In your request, specify that you want an Azure Course Folder and not a Microwave course folder.

Connecting to an Azure Course Folder

From within an Azure Virtual Desktop:

  1. Click the search bar in the bottom left of your Azure Virtual Desktop.
  2. Type \\labfiles3.file.core.windows.net\courses\ and press Return.
  3. Double-click your course folder to open it.
Accessing from campus or VPN: Azure course folders can also be reached from any computer on the campus network or connected via VPN using the same path above. Connection speeds will be faster when connecting from within an Azure Virtual Desktop. See How to Access an Azure (Microsoft) Virtual Desktop in the Related Articles section to get started with the virtual desktop.
