Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin website editors who maintain academic sites in the Cascade Content Management System (CMS).

  • Audience: Academic site editors.
  • Scope: The academic site homepage template. The academic homepage looks different from the administrative site homepage and has a handful of features available only in this template type. For the administrative equivalent, see Office Site Homepage in the Related Articles section.

Resolution

The academic homepage template controls the banner at the top of the page. The annotated layout below shows the banner image, navigation, sidebar, setup block, introduction text, and main content area.

Banner Display Options

There are four banner display options for academic site homepages, indicated by radio buttons in Cascade. You can also select the color of the header.

  • Short with no content slider
  • Short with photos content slider
  • Short with news content slider
  • Large

Short with No Content Slider

The example below depicts a short banner with no content slider and a black department header.

Short with Photos Content Slider

The example below depicts a short banner with a photos content slider and a black department header. The content slider can be dragged (with your mouse on a desktop device, or your finger on a tablet/mobile device) to display additional "slides."

Short with News Content Slider

The example below depicts a short banner with a news content slider and a black department header. The content slider can be dragged (with your mouse on a desktop device, or your finger on a tablet/mobile device) to display additional "slides."

Large

The example below depicts a large banner. If this option is selected, you may not add a content slider.
