Environment
This applies to Bowdoin website editors working in the Cascade content management system (CMS). There are many times you might want to create a page or news story draft but not publish it right away — maybe you need approval from other offices, or you are experimenting with different page layouts.
Important: Most assets are set to be published and indexed by default, and every site is auto-published every 24 hours. Complete this step for any page you do not intend to publish within that timeframe.
Resolution
- Navigate to the page or news story you would like to keep unpublished.
- Click Edit, as you would normally do to make changes or updates to the asset.
- Click on the Configure tab beneath the cog icon.
- Uncheck the Include when indexing and Include when publishing checkboxes.
- Click Preview Draft > Submit > Submit.

Note: You will need to recheck these checkboxes when you are ready to publish. This asset is not publishable until you do — so even if you try to publish your entire site's folder, this asset will be ignored and skipped until you recheck the checkboxes.
