Searles Science Center, Room 315

Searles 315 is a classroom that offers professors the flexibility of instructing students in a traditional setting, while at the same time allowing them to bring technology into their instruction. The classroom is designed to help professors and students give elaborate multimedia presentations.

Technology

Instructor/Podium Station:

  • Mac Mini providing Mac OS and a virtual Windows operating system.
  • 21.5" Crestron Touch Panel/Instructor Monitor.
  • AirTouch sit/stand instructor desk (Push the lever to gently raise or lower the desk to suit your needs).
    • Note: HDMI, USB, and Ethernet Laptop/iPad hook-up available at instructor's station.
  • A list of software for either operating system can be found here.

A/V Technologies

  • Panasonic PT-RZ870 Hi-Definition Laser Projector.
    • Ceiling mounted, native resolution of 1920 x 1200, 1080p (8500 Lumens of brightness).
  • Crestron touch panel control.
  • Region Free Blu-ray/DVD/CD Player.
    • Note:  Located on a shelf in the AV rack behind the Instructor Station.
  • Room Audio.
  • (2) PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) web cameras (wall mounted on far side opposite the instructor station, wall mounted behind the instructor station).
  • Digital Document Camera.
  • Vocal reinforcement Instructor:  Yes - Shure Lavaliere microphone/body pack and CatchBox Lavalier to room audio with rechargeable docks.  Both reside on top of the AV Rack next to the instructor station.​​​​​​
  • Vocal reinforcement Audience:  Yes - CatchBox Microphone to room audio.
    • NOTE:  The PTZ cameras, lavaliere and hanging microphones are the primary Zoom/MS Teams devices!
  • Overhead projector.
  • 1 projector screen.

  • Dimable, electronically controlled lighting.
