Step 1: Download Duo Mobile
Duo Mobile is required for 2-step authentication to log in to many Bowdoin services.
Download and install Duo Mobile for iPhone or Android devices.
If you already have Duo Mobile installed, go to Step 2.

If you are reading this page from a smartphone, choose the appropriate icon below to open your device's app store to download Duo Mobile.
If you are reading this from a computer, search your device's app store for "Duo Mobile" and install it.

Once downloaded, put the smart phone aside. You will need it in a few moments.
If you do not have a smartphone, or already have Duo Mobile installed, continue to Step 2.

Step 2: Log in to create your account
Open a web browser on a computer and navigate to:
login.bowdoin.edu
Log in with your new Bowdoin email address...

... and the temporary password that was provided to you.

Step 3: Enroll in 2-Step Authentication with Duo

Step 4: Set Security Questions and Responses
You will now be asked to fill out additional information that you will use if you ever forget your password or need it reset.
IMPORTANT: IT staff does not have access to this information so be sure to remember what you filled out!
Enter a secondary email address and choose and answer a security question.

Enter a phone number for SMS and a phone number for voice calls.

Select a picture and click Create My Account.

Step 5: Reset your temporary password
The password that was provided to you was meant to be temporary.
Follow these quick steps to set your own password.
While still in the login portal, click your name in the upper-right and choose Settings

Scroll about halfway down until you reach the "Change Password" section.
Enter your current, temporary password and then enter a new password twice.

Follow these rules to create your own password:
- Must be at least 8 characters long
- Must have a mix of upper and lower-case characters
- Must have at least 1 number
- Must have at least 1 special character
- Can not contain any part of your username
