Environment
This article applies to Bowdoin faculty and students. Flipgrid is a free video discussion and conversation app that lets faculty post discussion prompts and lets students respond with short videos, whether they are learning in class or online. Flipgrid uses your Bowdoin login through single sign-on and includes features such as video moderation and closed captions.
Common classroom uses include:
- Socratic discussions
- Social presence
- Research presentations
- Project-based learning
- Asynchronous learning
Note: Flipgrid has only a loose integration with Bowdoin accounts through single sign-on. Flipgrid accounts are separate from Bowdoin accounts, so you manage your Flipgrid educator account with Flipgrid directly. There is no integration for students and class enrollments, so you manage student access to their material (grids) yourself.
