Resolution
What is CrowdStrike Falcon for Mobile?
CrowdStrike Falcon for Mobile is a security app that protects Bowdoin-issued iPads by detecting vulnerabilities and monitoring for malicious activity. It uses the same cloud-based platform as CrowdStrike on desktop computers, analyzing activity from sensors worldwide to detect and block threats in real time.
How does it benefit me?
The app adds an extra layer of security to your iPad by monitoring network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity. It works entirely in the background without interfering with your normal use of the device.
Will it slow down my iPad?
No. CrowdStrike runs a single lightweight process in the background with minimal impact on your device's speed or battery life.
What information does it collect?
CrowdStrike does not collect personal data. It monitors background system activity and network connections, looking only for abnormal behavior that could indicate a security threat.
How will I know if it detects a threat?
If CrowdStrike blocks or prevents a suspicious action, you will not receive an alert on your device. The event is sent to a central console monitored by Bowdoin IT staff. If any action is needed, someone from IT will contact you.
What do I do when CrowdStrike is first installed?
When CrowdStrike is pushed to your iPad by IT, you will see a permission prompt. Tap OK to allow the app to function. After that, it runs automatically with no further action required.
