Environment
Microsoft Visio is an application from Microsoft used to create diagrams, line drawings, flow charts, and org charts. Visio runs on Windows 11 and is not part of the standard Microsoft 365 suite that Bowdoin provides to all accounts.
- Applies to Bowdoin faculty and staff who want to use Visio.
- Students are not eligible for Visio through the college at this time.
Resolution
- Availability: Visio is not part of the Microsoft 365 suite of tools and must be requested separately.
- Cost: There is a per-person cost for Visio.
- Request process: Faculty and staff may request a Visio license by submitting a request through the Service Catalog. Plan ahead, because there may be longer than normal lead times before a license becomes available (up to a month).
- Approval: Manager approval may be necessary because of the additional cost for the product.
- Student eligibility: Students are not eligible for Visio through the college at this time.
