- Audience: Faculty and departmental editors who maintain faculty profiles on the Bowdoin website.
- Scope: Editing and publishing faculty profiles. For staff profiles, see Create or Edit Staff Profiles for the Bowdoin website in the Related Articles section.

Resolution
Faculty profiles are managed in the Cascade Content Management System. Each profile folder (sorted alphabetically by Bowdoin username) contains:
- Images folder: Store images (headshots, book covers, etc.) here.
- PDF folder: Store any referenced files here.
- Index page: This is your profile page.
Edit and Publish a Faculty Profile
- To Edit: In the Faculty and Staff Profiles site, navigate to your profile folder, click the index page, then click Edit.
- To Save: Changes auto-save as you edit; to avoid losing work, periodically click Preview Draft, then Submit.
- To Publish: Click Publish. For best results, publish your entire profile directory folder, not just the index page.
Summary of Fields
- Display Name: Your name as you'd like it to appear on the published profile.
- Title: Your name without any suffix; this field alphabetizes profiles on departmental subsites. Display Name and Title are usually the same.
- Primary Affiliation: Select the relevant department from the drop-down. You may select only one primary affiliation; it must match Workday.
- Secondary Affiliation: Select secondary department(s) from the drop-down. You may select multiple.
- Hide: Use to hide the profile from associated department faculty/staff pages (for example, to hide faculty emeriti from the grid view). Defaults to displaying.
- Position: Your official title (as recorded with Academic Affairs).
- Hero Image: Click Choose File, then the Upload link. In the Select a placement folder field, browse to the images folder within your profile folder. Drop the hero image in the dotted-line area or choose it from your computer, then click Choose. To request options from the photography database, submit the Photography Request Form.
- Alternative Text: If you upload a hero image, you must include alternative text describing the photo.
- Caption: If relevant, include a caption for your hero image.
- Intro Sentence: A brief intro sentence; displays in slightly larger, bolder text. Do not paste your full bio here.
- Main Content: Your bio, research interests, etc. Use the WYSIWYG buttons for formatting and in-line links.
- Add Accordions: Accordions let you list publications, conferences, and similar content. Use the plus icons to add accordions, the up/down arrows to reorder, and the red x icon to delete an accordion.
- Add Photo Gallery: To add a photo gallery, click the Yes checkbox.
- Profile Sidebar Image File: Upload your headshot here (.jpg or .png), dimensions 250x300. Place the image file in the images folder within your username's folder.
- Link List: Add links to a personal website, department site, etc. as a bullet-pointed list.
- Education: Added by Communications/Academic Affairs. If it is incorrect, notify Academic Affairs.
Reminders
- Some information populates from other College platforms:
- The Teaching This Semester section pulls from Banner. If inaccurate, contact the registrar's office.
- Contact information (phone, email, office location) pulls from Workday. If inaccurate or incomplete, contact Human Resources.
- Old versions of files remain online unless you delete them. When creating a new version of a file (for example, your latest CV), replace the file rather than uploading a new one, and delete any files you no longer want online. For help, email Sophaktra Heng.
- Faculty profiles are one-page summaries, not full websites, and cannot accommodate multiple pages.
