While eduroam is limited to colleges and universities, several colleges have started to provide information of any public places with eduroam such as parking lots or parking garages. An interactive map provided by the University of Delaware highlighting those areas is available.
Is eduroam secure?
Yes. The eduroam network is more secure than most publicly available networks and there are agreements in place by all member institutions that they must use specific authentication methods and protocols to ensure security of the usernames, passwords, and the data being transmitted.
For more information, read eduroam's information regarding the security of the network.
Is eduroam considered being "on campus"?
While you are physically on campus, being connected to the eduroam network is considered as being "on campus". You will have access to all of the same resources as if you were connected to the BOWDOIN network.
When you are away from campus and connected to an eduroam network at another institution, you are considered as being "away from campus" and will need to use VPN to connect to Bowdoin services that require it.
