Windows Displays Slow Charging Notification

Issue

Windows laptops with power connected through some USB-C adapters may display a Slow Charging Notification while the laptop is plugged in.

Environment

This is a known issue when some Dell laptops charge through certain USB-C adapters. The laptop will charge slower, but you can continue to use the laptop without damage. Follow the steps below to avoid seeing this notification.

Resolution

Method 1: Connect USB Power Directly

  1. Direct Connection: Connect the USB power directly into the USB-C port on the laptop instead of through the multi-port adapter.

Method 2: Turn Off Slow Charging Notifications in Windows

  • Type Settings in the search bar to open the Windows Settings app.
  • Navigate to the Devices section.
  • From the left pane menu, click on the USB section.
  • In the right pane, uncheck the box next to Notify me if my PC is charging slowly over USB.
