Digital Excellence Commitment (DExC) Qualifications

Issue/Question

  • Do I qualify for a laptop under the Digital Excellence Commitment Program?

  • I received a laptop from Bowdoin as part of a program, can I get a new laptop?

Environment

One of the primary drivers of the Digital Excellence Commitment program is to provide common platforms where current students can engage with Bowdoin faculty while also maintaining a common set of tools for on-campus study. All students who do not already have a Bowdoin-issued laptop and are taking courses during an academic semester at Bowdoin are eligible for the program.

The distribution of technology will vary depending on when and where a student is studying during a semester.

Program Eligibility

Students who are eligible for technology under the Digital Excellence Commitment program will receive their technology at different times.

  • Students enrolled at Bowdoin and taking classes on campus in the fall will receive their technology during Orientation or before classes being for the Fall Semester (2022).
  • Students who are studying abroad in the fall, but will be returning to campus in the spring will receive their technology before the start of the Spring Semester (2023).
  • Students who are studying abroad for the full year, but will be returning to campus the following fall to continue to take classes will receive their technology at the start of the next Fall Semester (2023).
  • Students who are studying abroad during the Fall Semester and will not be returning to Bowdoin (they will complete their degree while studying abroad) are not eligible for the program.
  • Students who have already received a laptop and an iPad from the college are not eligible.
