Environment
This article applies to all users of macOS who need to capture a screenshot of their screen. It helpful in situations such as reporting a problem, saving a snippet of information, or sharing a view of your screen with others.
Resolution
There are several methods to take a screenshot on your Mac:
- Full-Screen Screenshot: Press the Command (⌘) + Shift + 3
- Selected Area Screenshot: Press the Command (⌘) + Shift + 4 keys together. A crosshair will appear. Click and drag to select the area you want to capture. Release the mouse or trackpad button to take the screenshot. It will be saved your desktop.
- Specific Window Screenshot: Press the (⌘) + Shift + 4 keys together, then press Spacebar. The cursor will change to a camera icon. Click on the window that you want to capture. The screenshot will be saved to your desktop.
