This article applies to Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff who use Notability on an iPad and want to back up their notes to their Bowdoin Microsoft OneDrive account. Your iPad must be connected to Wi-Fi and signed in to your Bowdoin Microsoft 365 account.

Resolution

  1. Open Notability on your iPad.
  2. Tap the gear icon (Settings).
  3. Tap Auto-Backup.
  4. Turn on Auto-Backup by switching the toggle to on.
  5. Tap OneDrive.
    • If you see OneDrive, select it and sign in with your Bowdoin email address.
    • If prompted, approve access to your Microsoft account.
  6. Choose your preferred File Format:
    • PDF (best for viewing and sharing)
    • Note (best for restoring into Notability)
    • You may select more than one format if desired.
  7. Select the folder in OneDrive where you want your notes saved. You may create a new folder called “Notability Backup” to keep things organized.
  8. Tap Done to save your settings.

Your notes will now automatically back up to OneDrive whenever you make changes and your iPad is connected to the internet.

You can confirm your files are saving correctly by signing in to Microsoft 365 online and opening OneDrive to view your selected backup folder.
