Environment
This article applies to Bowdoin College faculty and staff who use Microsoft Teams Calling and want to use a headset. Microsoft Teams supports a wide variety of headsets — this article lists the IT-recommended models available through W.B. Mason, Bowdoin's preferred vendor for office supplies.
- Purchasing: Headsets are a departmental expense. IT does not provide headsets. Orders must be placed through your department's W.B. Mason account holder.
- USB connector types: All Poly desk phones use USB-C. Most Macs from 2020 or newer use USB-C. Older Macs and many PCs use USB-A. If you are unsure which connector your computer uses, contact the Service Desk before ordering.

- Apple AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max
- Beats headphones with microphone
- Jabra earbuds
- Bose headphones with microphone
If you already have a headset you use with your computer or phone, try it with Teams before purchasing a new one. The Service Desk can help troubleshoot if audio quality is an issue.
