Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin faculty, staff, and students who want to record a pronunciation of their name for use in Canvas and the Bowdoin directory.

  • Canvas at canvas.bowdoin.edu
  • A NameCoach recording is called a NameBadge. Once recorded, it populates the Bowdoin directory pages and any Canvas courses you are enrolled in.

Resolution

NameCoach lets you record a pronunciation of your name from within your Canvas user account settings. The video below demonstrates the process.

  1. Log in to canvas.bowdoin.edu with your Bowdoin username and password.
  2. Select your account picture in the top left of your Canvas page.
  3. From the list of options that appears, select NameCoach.
  4. Select Record Name.
  5. Use one of the three options to record your name: Phone, Web Recorder, or Uploader.
  6. Select Submit and Finish.
